@@@A long, long time ago, there lived an old man and his old wife in a village. Everyday, they went to the mountain to gather woods, went to the river to wash clothes. One day, a big peach came floating down the river when the old woman washed clothes. "What a big peach this is! I'll take it home to eat with grandpa." she said and came home with it. When she is about to cut it, to their surprise, the peach cut apart of itself and a big baby came out of it. "Oh, my God!" They were very surprised. However, they felt very happy to receive him from God, because they had never had babies. "What shall we call him?" she asked. "He was born from the peach. So, how about Momo-Taro,'Peach Boy'." he said. "That's a good name." Momo-Taro grew and grew quickly to be a strong and kind-hearted boy. One day, he said to his parents. "I hear there live a few bad ogres in the Ogrefs Island." "Oh, yes. They sometimes come to our village and play up. We are at a loss what to do now." "Then I'll go there and defeat them." The grandma made the most delicious dumplings in Japan for Momo-taro. He carried them in his waist pouch, and then left his house for the Ogrefs Island. On his way to island, he met a dog. "Mr.Momo-Taro, what is there in your pouch?" "I have the most delicious dumplings in Japan." "If you give me one, I'll follow you." He gave one dumpling and the dog followed him with pleasure. When he and the dog made their way, a monkey came toward them. "Mr.Momo-Taro, what is there in your pouch?" "I have the most delicious dumplings in Japan." "If you give me one, I'll follow you." He gave one dumpling and the monkey became one of his men with pleasure. When they were walking, a pheasant flew over toward them. "Mr.Momo-Taro, what is there in your pouch?" "I have the most delicious dumplings in Japan." "If you give me one, I'll follow you." He also gave one dumpling and the pheasant became one of his men with pleasure. After few walking, they could see a land. "That must be the Ogrefs Island,h the dog said. They reached the island at last, but ogres were standing in front of the gate. Then the monkey climbed up the gate quickly to open it and the pheasant attacked the ogresf eyes. "I am beaten," the ogres said and they ran away. But soon huge boss came out, and the ogre said, swinging his iron bar. "Hey,little boy. I'll kill you." "Are you the boss?" said Momo-Taro, jumping on the bar quickly. "You! Bad ogres!! You torture my villagers. I'll never forgive you. Get my punch!" "I'm sorry. Give up! I'll give you our treasures. Forgive me, please." Momo-Taro got many treasures; Gold, silver, textile and so on in the castle. With it, they came back to the village. It was a sunny and wonderful day, and the fine days last forever with no more ogresf attacks again.
